Sensitivity
to context and style were especially important in adding a bedroom addition
to this waterside home which had won an Architectural Record award in the 1970s.
Because of the home's significant architectural history, the clients first consulted
the original architect about their proposed addition, but were disappointed
with his solutions. When they came to DVV, we offered a variety of diverse schemes
that solved their programmatic requirements and were in concert with the existing
building. In the end, they settled on a set-back addition that echoed the lines
of the original structure.
