Somerset Police & Fire Station

The Somerset Police & Fire Station had not been significantly upgraded since its construction in the 1960's. Forty years of technological change and population growth had left the station lacking both a modern infrastructure and the required space for a public safety facility. While various architectural studies had been done during the 1990's, D&VV was hired in 2000 to jumpstart the process. The renovation and addition project updated both the police and fire stations with an efficient, cost-effective solution. We designed the new 9,500 square foot addition to handle the expanion needs of the police department, while the vacated police space was converted to fire department use. In addition, we selected a new roof for the entire facility that both unified the complex visually and profided a lower maintenance roofing system.
