Southborough's Municipal Facilities Committee is studying the feasibility and preliminary site design for a new public safety complex. Southborough's fire station is housed in an outdated 1960s structure, while the nearby police station is in a converted school building that is more than 75 years old. The town is committed to maintaining police and fire services on this very visible, centrally located site, despite serious site constraints. This study evaluates what should be retained of the existing buildings, how to implement joint dispatch and how to avoid unnecessary duplication of spaces.
