The Town of Whitman recently acquired a former National Guard Armory site from the state. In this feasibility study, our first task was to determine whether it was more advantageous to renovate the armory building for police use or to tear it down and build new. When it became clear that there would be little cost savings in renovating the building - and a great deal of compromise in regards to appearance and functionality - the town decided to explore building a new police facility on another town owned parcel of land. The second part of the study consisted of the development of a preliminary design that was recently approved by the citizens of Whitman at town meeting.
